Sydney, October 24 – At the 2014 Magic Millions Yearling Sale earlier this year a stunning filly by I Am Invincible from Zelady set the sale ring alight when selling for $440,000 and it was her year younger sister I Am Zelady, who dazzled racegoers at Canterbury on Friday night.

An $80,000 Magic Millions purchase for her trainer Sam Kavanagh from the Yarraman Park draft, I Am Zelady kicked off her career with a highly impressive win in the 1250 metre maiden.

She sat outside the leader and then forged clear in the straight, quickening in eye-catching fashion to win by three lengths.

“She’s a pretty talented filly and it’s nice to see her get out and get the money,” said Sam Kavanagh.

“Hopefully it will be onwards and upwards. She’s a Magic Millions filly so we’d look towards the MM 3YO race in January if she keeps improving.”

A half-sister to Group III winner Excites Zelady, I Am Zelady was bred by Jilly Henderson and is the sixth winner from six to race from winning Zeditave mare Zelady, a grand-daughter of Group II winner Bound to Honour.

Zelady is due to foal this spring to another of the young Yarraman Park sires in Hinchinbrook.

I Am Zelady was one of three winners at the Canterbury meeting that were sold by Yarraman Park joining Terra Amata (5m Strategic x Blue Mistral), sold at Magic Millions Session Five to Prime Thoroughbreds for $30,000 and Valcot (5g Ad Valorem (USA) x Cotija) sold at Magic Millions National for $34,000 to Dermot Farrington.
