Opening his account with a strong finishing win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday was blue-blooded Hinchinbrook gelding Kandinsky, a three-quarter brother to Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Nechita. Trained by Hawkes Racing and sporting the Champion Thoroughbreds colours, Kandinsky enjoyed a soft run in fourth for Brenton Avdulla and when switched into the clear quickly showed his superiority. He powered to the line to win the 1200 metre maiden by almost half a length in a most pleasing debut. Bred by Champion Thoroughbreds principle Jason Abrahams in partnership with Judy Somers, Kandinsky was passed in at the Magic Millions when offered by Edinglassie Stud and retained to race. He is the fourth winner from four to race from former handy metropolitan winning Peintre Celebre (USA) mare Artistique, whose star daughter Nechita is now at stud in Ireland for Coolmore. Kandinsky looks another bright prospect for Yarraman Park’s top class young sire Hinchinbrook, who was Champion First Season Sire for 2014/2015 and currently leads the Second Season Sires division.
