Hometown Newcastle favourite Kris Lees secured a start in the $300,000 Provincial Championships Final at Randwick on April 11 for his promising Magic Albert filly Magic of Dreams when she scored a thrilling win in the $100,000 Provincial Qualifier on Wednesday.

The lightly raced filly made her debut in November and has been in work ever since putting together the impressive record of three wins and a two placings from six starts with prizemoney of $122,980.

Magic Of Dreams is the third horse to qualify for the final for Kris Lees.

“It’s still a while away so a lot can happen between now and then,” Lees told Sky Racing World.

“A lot of Newcastle people are in this (Magic Of Dreams) so they deserve their win today.”

Lees paid tribute to his filly who was giving away plenty of experience to all of her rivals.

“This is still her first preparation and she’s been up a long while so she’s coping really well,” he said.

“She’ll go to the final now and I think she’ll be competitive.”

Bred by Yarraman Park and Ron Dufficy, Magic of Dreams is leased by a couple of big syndicates of Newcastle owners so will be bringing a huge cheer squad with her when she comes to Randwick.

She is a half-sister to Group III winner Fine Bubbles being one of three winners from stakes-winner Pekaklan, who died last year after producing a filly by Foxwedge.

Magic Albert has two entries for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and both are siblings to stakes-winners.
