It’s nice to be surfing the crest of a winning wave and this family owned and run Hunter Valley based farm has had much to celebrate in recent months.

The Brisbane Winter Carnival has been a happy hunting ground for two year-olds either bred by Yarraman Park or sired by Yarraman stallions with a slew of Group and Listed wins for some very smart juveniles.

“We’ve had a great run leading into the breeding season and our stallions are fully booked and will cover some terrific mares this year,” said Arthur Mitchell.

Yarraman Park bred and sold I Am Invincible filly Look to the Stars (2f I Am Invincible x Star Prize(Arg)started the ball rolling when she won the Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes at Doomben on May 23 for Clarry Conners and her big team of Darby Racing owners.

She also finished third in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes and has gone to the paddock with nearly $290,000 in earnings, providing a great return for her owners given she was purchased for a modest $26,000 from the Yarraman Park draft at the Inglis Scone Yearling Sale.

Champion Australian First Season Sire elect Hinchinbrook had a red letter day on June 6 when his slick daughter Flippant (2f Hinchinbrook x Lady Beckworth) took the Listed BRC Lancaster Stakes at Doomben and he then made it a stakes double when star colt Press Statement (2c Hinchinbrook x Kaaptive Empress) landed the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes to remain unbeaten.

The Yarraman Park team were thrilled to see Hinchinbrook post a milestone first Group I winner with Chris Waller’s exciting colt Press Statement (pictured Steve Hart) , but were just as pleased with Flippant, who is also part owned by Yarraman Park.

A $220,000 Magic Millions purchase for McKeever Bloodstock acting for Yarraman from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft, Flippant has won three of five starts earning over $170,000 under the guidance of Peter and Paul Snowden.

She’s bred to good as the second winner from two to race for Lady Beckworth, who is a winning half-sister by General Nediym to the dam of Group I stars Atlantic Jewel and Commanding Jewel.

Closely related to Atlantic Jewel, who is by Hinchinbrook’s sire Fastnet Rock, Flippant (pictured Steve Hart) was the most expensive filly from the first crop of Hinchinbrook, so it’s fitting to see her do so well.

Flippant’s dam Lady Beckworth was back at Yarraman Park last spring for a covering to I Am Invincible as was Press Statement’s dam Kaaptive Empress, who went back to Hinchinbrook.

Chasing Flippant home in her first two races, both Black Type assignments, was promising Fastnet Rock filly Harlem River (2f Fastnet Rock x Harlem Heat) who broke the ice for a stakes win of her own last Saturday at the Gold Coast on the Listed Tatts 150 Years of Tatts Stakes.

A $180,000 Inglis Easter purchase for bloodstock agent Anthony Penfold from the Yarraman Park draft, the Gai Waterhouse trained Harlem River runs in the Coolmore navy blue.

Bred by Yarraman Park, Harlem River is the best of three winners from Harlem Heat and her full brother Botany Bay won his second race at Pakenham last Friday for Team Hawkes, so it’s a family on the improve.

Harlem Heat has a weanling filly by I Am Invincible and is due to foal to him again this spring.

Not to be left out, Yarraman Park’s stalwart sire Magic Albert chimed in last weekend with a potential big gun of his own with high profile colt Mawahibb (2c Magic Albert x Eye For Fun) coring a runaway win at Moonee Valley for Team Hawkes.

A half-brother to Golden Slipper winner Mossfun that was bought by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa for $750,000 at Inglis Easter, Mawahibb has been given plenty of time and obviously has the ability that might see him become the next big horse for his proven Group I producing sire.
