A record breaking edition of the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale this week produced outstanding results for Yarraman Park, who were the leading vendor by aggregate and average. Yarraman Park sold 16 yearlings for $2,057,500 at an average price of $128,594. Our top seller and the ultimate top seller of the entire sale was a stunning I Am Invincible colt from Quirina (GB) that set a new record high for Classic when fetching $410,000 to the bid of Hong Kong owned, but New Zealand based Wexford Stables. Lance O’Sullivan confirmed the colt will remain in Australia for the time being and initially will be trained by Mike Moroney at Flemington. The star colt was always expected to be popular, but smashing the sale record was a pleasant surprise. “We didn’t expect that sort of price,” said Harry Mitchell. “He was a very nice horse out of a Red Ransom mare and we thought he would fit very well here and be one of the better colts. But we didn’t have him valued that high. He ticked all the boxes as far as x-rays, temperament and type. We are obviously delighted with the sale.” Other big results for Yarraman came with the Hinchinbrook colt from Carlton Ace that made $260,000 when snapped up by James Harron Bloodstock and an I Am Invincible colt from Amber’s Arion that made $240,000 when secured by Yu Long Investments. In a sale dominated by colts, Yarraman also offered one of the top fillies with the I Am Invincible filly from Lis Nediym selling for $155,000 to Wishbone Farm. Yarraman based sires I Am Invincible and Hinchinbrook both had big drafts and contributed a whopping $4,045,500 towards the record breaking overall sale aggregate of $26,760,500. I Am Invincible had 26 yearlings average $105,269, while Hinchinbrook had 26 average $50,237 and Yarraman stalwart Magic Albert also made his mark with 13 yearlings averaging $52,385.
